Throughout her career—as CEO, COO, advisor, and board member—Angela has consistently built strong, values-driven teams that thrive in dynamic, high-growth environments. She has held executive leadership roles in multiple biotech startups, including serving as Chief Operating Officer at Florence Healthcare, RenovoRx, and Aetos Imaging.

Angela brings a rare blend of operational excellence and emotional intelligence to her work, grounded in decades of experience across the healthcare, technology, and biotech sectors. She’s led teams through rapid expansion, organizational change, and complex challenges with steadiness and clarity, always centering integrity and connection.

She currently hosts the Badass Leaders Podcast, where she engages each week with industry experts in candid, thought-provoking conversations that explore the real challenges and triumphs of modern leadership.

Technology & Engineering

Angela Gill Nelms is the Director of Biolocity, where she leads initiatives to accelerate the commercialization of early-stage medical technologies developed at Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. She brings strategic business leadership to the intersection of academia, medicine, investment, and industry—guiding novel technologies from concept to successful startups and industry licenses.

Angela began her career in clinical trials at Medtronic and Emory Healthcare. During her entrepreneurial journey, she served as the Chief Operating Officer at several companies, including Florence Healthcare, RenovoRx, and Aetos Imaging. Her strong commitment to philanthropy, healthcare innovation, and community engagement complements her extensive experience in biotechnology entrepreneurship.

An active contributor to the Georgia Tech community, Angela serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Board and the Georgia Tech Advisory Board (GTAB), which advises the university president. She previously chaired the advisory board for the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. Angela has been recognized with Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering Young Alumni Award and the Academy of Distinguished Alumni Award, honoring her significant contributions to the field, the university, and society. She holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

As a single mother earning an engineering degree while raising a child with special needs, and as a survivor of a harrowing kidnapping and hostage ordeal, she has endured life’s most difficult challenges—and emerged with clarity, courage, and compassion. These moments shaped her into the kind of leader who not only drives results but deeply understands the human experience behind every decision.

In addition to her executive leadership, Angela co-founded the Recovery Advocate Network—an initiative dedicated to healing, connection, and advocacy for individuals facing trauma and adversity. She also hosts the organization’s podcast, using storytelling and conversation to amplify awareness and drive meaningful change. Committed to supporting the next generation, Angela mentors emerging leaders and entrepreneurs through her service on both the Georgia Tech Advisory Board and the College of Engineering Advisory Board—continuing to give back to the community that helped shape her journey.
