A Leader in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering has appointed Angela Gill Nelms (BMED 2007) as the new Director of Biolocity. She will lead efforts to commercialize early-stage medical technologies at Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology.

Biolocity is a philanthropic, multi-institutional network dedicated to advancing university medical technology commercialization in the Southeast. By offering investment, project management, consulting, and educational programs, Biolocity equips early-stage, patient-focused innovations with the resources necessary to achieve key commercialization milestones.

Nelms brings extensive experience in biotechnology, having held key roles at Medtronic, Emory Healthcare, and startups like Florence Healthcare, RenovoRx, and Aetos Imaging. At Florence Healthcare, she helped grow the company from four employees to over 100 and expanded its client base to 18,000 clinical sites across 50 countries.

Passionate about entrepreneurship and healthcare innovation, Nelms also serves on the Georgia Tech Advisory Board and has received honors such as Georgia Tech’s Young Alumni Award. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a strong advocate for mental health and trauma awareness, hosting the “Recovery Advocate Network: Coffee and Conversation” podcast and the “Badass Leaders Podcast” on leadership and business growth.
