Bold Journey: Meet Angela Gill Nelms
Meet Angela Gill Nelms
An Interview with Bold Journey
Angela Gill Nelms was recently featured in Bold Journey, a publication known for spotlighting real stories of grit, growth, and pursuing what matters.
In this conversation, she shares the moments that shaped her leadership, the challenges that tested her, and the mindset required to keep moving forward when it would be easier not to.
Below is an excerpt from her interview with the Bold Journey team.
“One of the biggest moments was deciding to go back to school at 29 as a single mother to study biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech. I already had a stable career, and plenty of people thought it was impossible. But I knew that if I didn’t bet on myself, I would always wonder what might have been. Sitting in classrooms surrounded by students much younger than me forced me to rebuild my confidence from the ground up. I learned that confidence isn’t about being the smartest person in the room—it’s about being willing to work hard, ask questions, and stay in the game when things get uncomfortable.
That lesson has repeated itself many times since. I’ve completed Ironman races, which are as much a mental challenge as a physical one. You spend hours confronting the voice in your head that says you can’t do it. Finishing those races reinforced something important for me: confidence grows every time you prove to yourself that you can keep going when things get hard.”
