Becoming Her: A Faith Journey Toward Peace, Joy, and Purpose

Becoming Her

Today, a friend inspired me to start this blog.

It’s an adventure toward “Becoming Her” — the woman God created me to be. A journey toward peace. Joy. Surrender. Service. And whatever else He has in store.

Right now, that journey includes struggle.

I recently made a decision that I believe honors God. And even though I trust it was the right one, I’ve felt heavy. Depressed. Spiritually attacked. Faith doesn’t remove hard seasons — but it gives them purpose.

So today, I’m choosing gratitude.

I believe it’s a powerful habit to pause and name what we’re thankful for — especially when it’s hard.

Today, I am thankful for:

  • A dear friend who called to check on me. She knows I’ve been struggling. She tells me the truth, not just what I want to hear. And she made time in her chaotic life to care for mine. That matters.
  • My amazing daughter, whose love and joy ground me. Yesterday she hugged me and said, “I love your hugs.” She has no idea how much I needed that.
  • Two wonderful tenants in my home — a reminder that God provides.
  • Meaningful work that challenges and stretches me.
  • Two incredible dogs who make me laugh, scream, and feel loved.
  • Music that calms my soul and helps me remember where to find peace.
  • My country, which allows “just a girl” to pursue engineering and help make the lives of others better.
  • The sunshine outside. The start of fall. A new season after what felt like the “Summer of Job.”

Most of all, I am thankful for life — for the struggles that shape me and the road still ahead.

Because it’s not how many times you fall that matters.

It’s how many times you get back up.
