Settling
I have given a lot of thought recently about settling and I realize that it has become an accepted part of society. It makes me sad to see that so many people, myself included, settle for much less than what they should. We settle by giving less than 100% of ourselves to our family. We settle by accepting our current job, as it is, without striving to improve it or to be brave enough to move onto something else. We settle for reduced health through lack of exercise and eating that dessert that we cannot resist (like creme brûlée in Paris….).
In all of this settling we are actually making a choice, conscious or unconscious, to say that LESS is okay. Less time with our family and friends is “okay”. Less effort at work is “okay”. Less time with God is “okay”.
I desire to learn to NOT settle.
I desire to say that LESS is not “okay”.
I strive to live each day as if I am dying and refuse to settle….
