Why the Journey Matters More Than the Finish Line
Why do I already look so sweaty? Because I just hopped off my Peloton and rolled straight into a brick workout—bike and run combo. My version of multitasking. I’m walking now, talking it out at 6:20 in the evening, and letting the world hear the messy, real side of this journey.
Some things lately have been clicking. I’ve gotten in good bike rides. I’ve been walking. I’ve leaned into healthier foods and fluids. I’ve been pushing for more sleep (still a work in progress). All of that feels like momentum—imperfect, but forward.
And then there’s the other side: the challenges. Like many of you, my schedule is borderline ridiculous. I’ve got late-night meetings, dinners full of conversation and collaboration, and by the time morning comes? Let’s be real—I’m not a morning person. Early workouts are still a dream, not a habit.
But here’s what I’ve realized: the destination isn’t one big race circled on the calendar. That’s just a milestone. The real destination is becoming our best selves—one sweaty Peloton ride, one imperfect brick workout, one choice at a time. Some days feel great. Some days don’t. That’s the truth.
The magic is in who we surround ourselves with. On those not-so-great days, the right people help you find joy anyway. Encouragement is fuel. A single word you say to someone—someone who’s trying hard but still struggling—can change their whole day, week, maybe even their life.
So here’s my challenge to you (and to me):
-
Reach out to someone who’s in the fight, even if they’re stumbling.
-
Celebrate the progress, not just the perfection.
-
Remember: bravery isn’t about flawless execution. It’s about showing up, sweaty and unfiltered, and keeping at it.
Get out there. Do what you can. Be brave. Be raw. Be badass.
