Day Four – Because Sometimes Badass Looks Like Slowing Down
Let’s be real—after three straight days of workouts, my body was done.
Not sore in the “brag about your gains” kind of way, but in the “thank the universe for grab bars next to the toilet” kind of way.
So on Day 4, I chose something that felt equal parts rebellious and respectful:
I walked.
In the rain.
Home from work.
And you know what? It was exactly what I needed.
Rest Is Part of the Work
This journey I’m on isn’t about pushing through pain just to check a box. It’s about rebuilding from the inside out. More importantly, it’s about learning to trust my body again—after trauma, surgeries, and years of disconnection.
Some days, that means going hard.
But other days, it means slowing down enough to hear what your body is whispering:
“Hey. I’m here. I’m working hard. Can we take it easy today?”
I heard it. Loud and clear.
So I honored that whisper—with a walk instead of a run, and a drizzle instead of a downpour of pressure.
Walking in the Rain, Gaining Perspective
Atlanta brought the rain, of course.
But it wasn’t a storm. It was a light, steady drizzle—gentle enough to feel refreshing, quiet enough to feel poetic.
There’s something powerful about walking in the rain.
You’re not racing. You’re not chasing.
You’re just present.
Each step became a reminder that progress doesn’t have to shout.
Sometimes, it’s a whisper on a wet sidewalk saying:
“Keep going. This counts.”
Movement Is Still Momentum
To be honest, my muscles are still yelling at me.
They’ve definitely noticed I’ve reintroduced them to activity. But behind the soreness is a message I’ve missed for a long time:
“You’re doing it. You’re coming back to life.”
So no, I didn’t crush a workout.
I didn’t break a record.
But I did keep a promise to myself. And that’s what this is really about:
-
Gentle progress—not pressure.
-
Showing up—not showing off.
-
Moving at the pace your body and soul actually need.
If You Need a Sign—This Is It
If you’re on your own comeback path, here’s your reminder:
✨ Rest isn’t weakness.
✨ Walking is still moving.
✨ Rain can feel like renewal—if you let it.
Maybe today that looks like a walk in the drizzle.
Or stretching on the floor while your kids climb on you.
Or canceling the high-intensity class and taking a nap instead.
Whatever it looks like, do it with intention.
Be gentle. Be brave. Be badass.
Even when you’re walking.
Even when it’s raining.
Especially then.
